A Leadership Development Programme for Current and Aspiring Middle Leaders.
The Middle Leadership Lab
The middle leader often adopts multiple roles bridging between Senior Leaders and staff delivering direct impact. It is arguably one of the most important leadership positions in any school.
This programme gives middle leaders the skills, confidence and frameworks to lead their teams well and improve outcomes across their areas of responsibility.
Participants are supported to develop across:
Self
Leadership confidence, reflective practice, professional judgement, and resilience.
Team
Developing and supporting individuals on the team, enhancing communication and feedback skills.
Systems
Understanding how the role complements and embodies organisational expectations, policy, responsibilities, and quality improvement.
Learning will be rooted in real workplace practice and application. The intention is to support participants to step into leadership with clarity, strengthening both their professional practice and the teams they work within.

Middle leader | Secondary school
Middle leaders are the engine of school improvement.
Investing in middle leaders is one of the highest-leverage decisions an organisation can make.
Middle leaders are the engine of school improvement. They sit at the critical junction between strategy and operational implementation, translating vision into daily practice across every department, every year group, every school. Without structured development, your middle leaders are running on experience alone.
This programme can be delivered for a cohort within a single trust, or as an open cohort alongside middle leaders from other trusts.

As we provide live session dates long in advance we hope that learners can join us for all sessions. Of course, things happen and you may not be able to attend a particular session. We do not record live sessions because they are highly interactive and we seek to protect the confidentiality of learners. However session summaries are provided following each session with a summary of the discussion points and content . Please be aware that if you miss multiple sessions this may impact your programme completion.
